Legal Awareness Camp

Today 28 May 2022 School of Legal Studies has organized a Legal Aid & Awareness Camp at Shri Gururam Rai (SGRR) Inter College Sahaspur, Dehradun. This was a mega legal awareness camp where numerous people including social sprit people, educationists, government officials, advocates, local people from the nearby rural area and students have participated. Chief Guest of the day was Honorable Justice Shri Rajesh Tandon, former judge, High Court of Uttarakhand, Special guest were Shri R.K. Kunwar, Director of Education, Government of Uttarakhand, Prof. B.S. Nagendra Parasher, Vice-Chancellor Himgiri Zee University and Shri Shyam Sunder Maharaj and Guests were Advocate Kuldeep Raj Sharma and Prof. (Dr.) Azwar Khan. In the beginning of the camp, Dr. Praveen Kumar Rathi, Associate Dean of School of Legal Studies has welcomed the guests and briefed about the today legal aid and awareness camp. Dr. Ravindra Saini Principal SGRR Inter College is associated with the ‘Beti Bachaoo, Beti Padhaoo’ mission, so Dr. Rathi declared that today camp is dedicated to women. In camp near about 30 girls students those are economically poor were helped and their fee paid by some good people. These peoples were also felicitated for their noble contribution. After this students of legal studies have expressed their views to aware the people on various subjects like Women Protection at Workplace, Domestic Violence, Right to Education, Right to Information, Motor Vehicle Accident and First Information Report (FIR) etc. Justice Rajesh Tandon in his speech elaborated all discussed topics of law students and appreciated the students efforts and mention that today program i.e. legal aid & awareness is a constitutional program and covered under Article 39A of the Indian Constitution. Education Director Shri R.K. Kunwar discussed the importance of legal awareness, expressed his views on New Education Policy 2020 and conveyed thanks to Himgiri Zee University for organizing this camp in the inter college. Dr. Ravindra Saini also thanks to the University and with singing a song he also conveyed the message for ‘Beti Bachaoo, Beti Padhaoo’. On completion of the camp Dr. Jageshwar Nath Singh has conveyed the vote of thanks. This program was coordinated by Ms. Rich Sharma, Asst. Prof. and Mr. Jayant Singh, teacher at Inter College. To make the camp successful Dr. Ritesh Chaudhary, Mr. Devendra Prajapati, Dr. Siddharth Thapliyal, Ms Pradnya, students of legal studies and Journalism & Mass Communication were present and contributed a lot.

A two days Moot Court Competition was organized by the Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Law, Bareilly UP. The Chief Guest of the program was Shri Ghanshyam Pathak, Judge-Consumer Forum Bareilly. Justice N.C. Harit (Retd.) and Mr. Avdhesh Chavri, Advocate on Record, Supreme Court of India. The moot problem was based a case relating to insurance law. The Insurance and reinsurance companies, intermediaries in India are regulated by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). Another primary legislation governing the Indian insurance sector is the Insurance Act, 1938.
A team of three students- Anand Dwivedi, Sagnik Bose and Dheeraj Pathak of BBA.LL.B 8th semester from the School of Legal Studies (SLS), Himgiri Zee University participated in the competition. On 11th march, 2022, a qualifying round was held in which 13 teams of different colleges/universities from Uttar Pradesh / Uttarkhand had participated. The Team SLS from Himgiri Zee University mooted on behalf of Complainant where they got through quarter finals to semi finals and on the same day they proceeded to Researcher’s test. On 12th March 2022, the Team SLS reached the finals where they performed energetically as they mooted for Respondent’s side. The much awaited results for the moot competition were announced on the same day, where Team SLS secured the position of 1st Runner–Up. Sagnik Bose and Anand Dwivedi were declared as the best mooter, and the best researcher respectively by the jury members.
Team SLS secured their position with flying colors and it is a moment of great pride for the School of Legal Studies, Himgiri Zee University. Team SLS dedicated the victory to the Associate Dean, Dr. Praveen Kumar Rathi and dedicated faculty members of the School of Legal Studies for their proper guidance and motivation.

Career Counselling Session on “Career Prospects in Legal Regime” organised by School of Legal Studies

On 10 March 2022, an enlightening counseling session on the topic “Career Prospects in Legal Regime” was organised by the School of Legal Studies, Himgiri Zee University. The Speaker-cum- counselor for the session was Advocate Sanjay Dimri, Nainital High Court & District Court, Dehradun. The speaker has 14 years of experience in legal field especially Corporate Sector affairs.
Apart from performing different roles in legal fraternity, Mr. Dimri is an active motivational speaker. This session was made very informative by the vast experience & realistic knowledge Mr. Dimri at the High Court & District Court level. The session involved the question and career oriented queries by the students, which were eloquently resolved by the speaker. The Session followed by the encouraging words by Dr. Praveen Kumar Rathi, Associate Dean School of Legal Studies. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Jageshwar Nath Singh, HoD, School of Legal Studies. Dr Siddharth Thapliyal was the convenor of the Session. The session was anchored by Khushi Shukla and Mukul Jayaswal, students of BBA-LLB 4th Semester. Dr. Bhupnesh Kumar , Mr Shobhit Bhardwaj, Ms Richa Sharma, Ms. Aanya Aggarwal, Ms. Pradanya & students from various programs from School of Legal Studies were present.

NSS Unit, Himgiri Zee University organizes activities to celebrate International Women’s Day

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of the Himgiri Zee Univerity, Dehradun celebrated International Women's Day on 8th March 2022. This event was envisioned to cater to the aspirations and awareness of the rural people. The theme of the day was "Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow."
NSS is a voluntary and value - based student youth programme. It is one of the major youth schemes being operated under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The motto of NSS is "NOT ME BUT YOU." This expression is the essence of democratic living and welfare of the individual which ultimately leads to the welfare of the society. It aims to achieve improvement in personality, inculcate leadership qualities, develop national outlook, and a sense of civic responsibility amongst its volunteers.
The Camp of NSS Unit was arranged at Government Inter College, Sabhawala. The event started with great enthusiasm by the NSS volunteers of the university. Similarly, all the students at the School were excited to attend the event. Dr. Geeta Ram Nautiyal, Principal Govt Inter College, Sabhawala, Dr. B.K. Ambasta, Registrar Himgiri Zee University and Dr. Praveen Kumar Rathi, NSS Program Officer, Faculty member and NSS Coordinators were instrumental in the success of this event. Program started with auspicious lighting of lamp. The event was introduced by Dr. Praveen Kumar Rathi with his enlightening words depicting the aims and objectives of the NSS. While the students passionately recited slogans to boost motivation in one and all present.
NSS volunteers participated and took awareness message to the school students about the women’s rights, national international and legal outlook, Gender equality and women empowerment.
Program was gracefully anchored by faculty member Ms. Richa Sharma for the entire event. Three bright students of Government Inter College participated in event by expressing their views.
This was followed by the speech of Dr. Geeta Ram Nautiyal, Principal and Mr. Saket Bhartwal, Lecturer of Government Inter college on celebrating the occasion of "Shakti Parav." The students were energetic & were motivated by the words of Dr. B.K Ambasta Registrar of Himgiri Zee University. At last, Dr. Praveen Kumar Rathi wished the future success for students.

Career Conclave organized by School of Business Studies

Intended to build a strong eco-system for nurturing innovation and Startups in the country that will drive sustainable economic growth and generate large scale employment opportunities. The Government of India through this initiative aims to empower Startups to grow through innovation and design.
Keeping the vision of Government of India in mind, School of Business Studies arranged a one career conclave on Startup India. Arranging the conclave was the brainchild of the dean Dr. Vikas Tyagi. Students actively participated in the event.

DIGITAL PEDAGOGICAL TOOLS FOR ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT (DPTAE 2022):

A week long FDP organized by Department of Computer Science & Information Technology, School of Science & Technology

Date: 28 February 2022

One - week Faculty Development Program on “Digital Pedagogical Tools for Academic Enrichment” (DPTAE 2022) 23 February 2022 to 28 February 2022 was organized by Department of Computer Science & Information Technology, School of Science & Technology, Himgiri Zee University. FDP aimed at improving teaching and learning of educators, researchers and staff employed in various positions in the University, with the use of ICT tools.
In the current academic scenario it is essential for all connected to academics, to be aware of the new trends in Digital Pedagogy. The FDP “DPTAE 2022” was aimed to provide the right direction, perspective and techniques that will help teachers adapt new digital teaching tools. Also offer teachers innovative ways to embrace digital teaching technology.
In his inaugural speech, hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Ranjan stressed upon importance of online Teaching in the current Covid-19 scenario. He also emphasized upon the effective teaching and learning through ICT tools. Registrar Dr. B.K. Ambasta appreciated the Department of Computer Science & Information Technology, organizing the program and motivated the team to keep organizing such events.
The following areas were covered during the one week FDP by different speakers:
First session speaker Associate Dean, School of Science & Technology, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, deliberated on Digital Pedagogy, emerging trends & challenges in Digital Pedagogy. Second session speaker Head, Department of CS&IT, School of Science & Technology, Mr. Rakesh Arya deliberated on the title ‘Use of ICT tools for effective teaching learning as well as insight of new trends in Digital Education system’.
Multiple sessions were deliberated by Director, ADIPISCING INFOTECH PVT. LTD, Mr. Sukesh Kumar and by Master Trainer, CSC e-governance, Govt. of Uttarakhand, Mr. Shahanshah Ahmed on ‘Preparing Documents and presentation”using ICT tools.’
On the third day, a special international online session was conducted with the collaboration of Modibbo Adama University, Yola, Nigeria. Main speakers were Dr. Abubakar Mohammed, Assistant Professor & Manager –IT. He delivered an expert session on the topic “Intelligent virtual Educational Systems”
The FDP was attended by academician and staff of the university. In the valedictory ceremony Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Ranjan congratulated the department of Computer Science & Information Technology for organizing the event on a contemporary topic and motivated the department to come up with more such activities for Academic enrichment.

National Science Day significance marked with multiple activities

National Science Day is celebrated every year on February 28, the day when CV Raman discovered the Raman Effect, a phenomenon in spectroscopy. CV Raman discovered the Raman Effect in 1928 while working in the laboratory of the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata, which helped him in winning the prestigious Nobel Prize in 1930. This year theme for National Science Day 2021 celebration is “Integrated Approach in Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future”. School of Journalism and Mass Communication organized a special event on the day. The event was graced by the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rakesh Ranjan, Dean, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. Arun Kumar and Associate Dean, School of Legal Studies, Dr. Praveen Rathi.
Dean, School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Dr. Sushil Kumar Sharma was the host and organizer of the event. On the occasion Prof. Ranjan reiterated the need for integrated approaches between engineering and non-engineering field for a sustainable future. He said that we can’t just view many strands of life and science as just academic streams, instead with the integration of many pathways of knowledge there can be a resourceful yet sustainable future. Dr. Arun touched upon the Raman Effect and its discovery. He also shared the implications of the use of the light in our daily lives. Dr. Rathi expressed his views with science and legality.
Dr. Sushil Kumar Sharma thanked all the guests and expressed that in 21st century India is envisaging its age old profound wisdom of science and modernity with new purpose.
Same day school of Education & Humanities arranged activities in the science lab. Students prepared many miniatures and participated in the speech competition on the above mentioned theme for the day.

Himgiri Zee University inaugurates Yoga Center ‘Adiyogi’

Celebrating the essence of Yoga, Himgiri Zee University successfully opened the “Adiyogi” Yoga Centre on the campus on Friday, February 25, 2022. Mr. Bibek Agarwala, Group Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer, Essel Group, inaugurated the yoga centre and took part in the Sarawati Pooja. On this occasion, Gautami Sharma and Neeraj Sharma, students of the Department of Social Work, demonstrated various asanas showcasing the wonders of yoga. In his interview with the student of Journalism and Mass Communication, Mr. Bibek Agarwala talked about the benefits of yoga, especially in maintaining physical and mental balance. Following the tradition of the University, he planted a tree on the campus, near the yoga centre. Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Ranjan, Vice-Chancellor, Himgiri Zee University, expressed happiness to be a part of the inauguration. The opening ceremony was attended by students along with the Admin and Academic Staff of the university.
On the occasion Book title ‘Framing and Sense Making: Indian Cinema’ was launched by Mr. Agarwala under the university publication. The day also saw the launch of Mass Communication department’s newsletter “Himgiri Zee Times’.

Foundational Course in Regenerative Agriculture organized

Date: 24 February 2022

On 23-24 Feb 2022, School of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, Himgiri Zee University, organized Foundational Course in Regenerative Agriculture in association with Mahindra Pride Classroom, Naandi Foundation. The main speaker of the event Ms. Srishti Biswas, Consultant, Naandi Foundation, addressed the session. She spoke about the traditional agriculture practices in India, colonization, uncertain food security and commencement of Green Revolution. She brought in notice the use of High Yielding Variety and its effect on human beings as well as Ecosystem. With this she directed the conversation towards Regenerative agriculture, a combination of sustainable agriculture techniques. The plus point with regenerative agriculture is that it stresses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

BTTM Students visited India Travel Mart

India Travel Mart has provides opportunity for networking with travel agents and tour operators from Pan India to promote the tourism industry. Information on wildlife tourism, heritage tourism, adventure and eco tourism, religious and pilgrimage, beaches, cuisine, fairs and festivals are publicized and given at the Mart.
The three-day India Travel Mart (ITM) organized in association with Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board was conducted in Hotel Madhuban, Rajpur Raod, Dehradun. Event spanned from 17 to 19 Feb 2022. Students from Bachelor of Tourism and Travel Management visited the mart on 17th Feb 2022 with great enthusiasm. Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) is India's only district-level institution for technological assistance in agriculture and allied sectors. All KVKs are intended to reduce the time lag between the generation of technology at the research institution and its application to location-specific farmer fields for long-term increases in production, productivity, and net farm income. Visiting a Krishi Vigyan Kendra introduces students to new ways and methods pertinent to Agriculture and allied sciences.
On 17 Feb 2022, Post Graduate students of Agriculture stream from School of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries visited the Dhkarani Krishi Vigyan Kendra in district Dehradun. The visit was useful and knowledgeable. Students were guided and accompanied by the faculty members from the Department of Agriculture.

Himgiri Zee Varsity organized Webinar on NEP-2020

Date: 17 February 2022

School of Education and Humanities organized a National level Webinar on National Educational Policy 2020. This webinar was especially focused on the provisions for Schools in the new policy. It also highlighted and talked on new techniques of pedagogy mentioned in NEP 2020. The session was attended by University faculty, Administrators and many PhD Scholars.
Webinar was anchored by Dr. Poonam Thapliyal, Associate Professor, Dept. of Education. Session was officially started by Vice Chancellor Prof. Rakesh Ranjan. In his address Prof. Ranjan touched upon many key issues pertinent to Indian School Education system. He emphasized that some of the long pending issues like Local Language and Skill based education have been addressed comprehensively in the new policy.
In his address, Registar Dr. BK Ambasta envisioned a bright future for school going students in India. Dr. Danny Saxena, Associate Dean, School of Education and Humanities was the main speaker in the webinar. In his address he termed the new policy as the basis for national redevelopment. He highlighted the following points which are going to be essential in bringing about a transformation in School Education System.

  • Ensuring Foundational Literacy and Numbers knowledge till class 3rd for all students
  • Allowing flexibility in learning and curriculum, so that students can choose their options as per their interests
  • Integrating curriculum based activities with entrepreneurial and industrial skills
  • Allowing interdisciplinary approaches between various streams
